Cobras Plate 22 in Win over Paine

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball's offense was alive and well in the 22-6 win over Paine on Tuesday (Feb. 9) at Tom J. New Field.

Three Cobras collected multi-hit games, along with five guys collecting multiple RBI's on the day. Coker notched a crooked number in every inning but one, at the dispense of 14 walks by the Paine pitching staff.

Bryson Conner, Darius Coldiron, Thomas Lopez, Miguel Frias and Jack Leech each smacked doubles in the win, while Miguel Frias mashed his second home run of the season.

Anthony Scaccia (1-0) earned the win in his first start of the season. The hard-throwing lefty tossed three innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits. The senior walked four and fired three strikeouts. Will Sutton fired a scoreless inning of relief, notching one walk and recording two strikeouts. Freshman Jake Moore made his season debut in the win, firing two innings allowing three earned runs on five hits. The right-hander also punched out two. Joey Carpenter fired a scoreless inning of relief in his 2016 debut, allowing one hit.

The Cobras are back at home tomorrow when they host St. Augustines for a midweek non-conference contest. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
