Coker Sweeps Day Two of SAC Series Against Tusculum

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College baseball team picked up a pair of South Atlantic Conference victories on Saturday (Apr. 4) over the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers. The Cobras dominated in game one winning 13-5, then took a tightly contested game two 4-3.

In game one, the Coker offense exploded for 13 runs, 10 of which came during the first four innings. Taylor Fennewald led the charge for the Cobras. He went a perfect 4-for-4 and plated four RBIs. Will Winslow, Jack Leech and Miguel Frias all knocked in two RBIs. Winslow went 3-for-4, while Leech and Frias had two hits of their own. Dustin Russell and Tyler Osik each went 1-for-4 with a RBI. Sammy Song went 2-for-3 with four runs scored and Michael Orlowski scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

In game two, the two teams traded three-run innings in the first two innings, but an RBI single by Song in the bottom of the third inning would be the difference maker in the one run 4-3 Coker victory. Leech and Fennewald hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning to lead the Navy and Yellow. Fennewald registered another multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Leech finished with two RBIs and Song went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Dallas Baldwin (4-4) was the victor in game one. He threw a complete game, scattering eight hits and allowing four earned runs. Ryan Milner (3-2) also threw a complete game in his game two win. He gave up three earned runs on 10 hits.

The Cobras will have a quick turnaround as they travel to St. Augustine's University on Monday (Apr. 6) for a non-conference matchup. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
