Cobras Drop Two Against No. 17 Indians

HARTSVILLE, S.C. –The Coker College baseball team lost games one and two of their three-game series against the nationally ranked No. 17 Catawba College Indians on Saturday (Mar. 28). The Cobras dropped game one by a score of 5-4, then fell in game two 7-2.

Two runs by Catawba in the top of the seventh inning would be the deciding factor in game one. Dustin Russell, Michael Orlowski and Bryson Conner all had multi-hit games in the series opener. Russell went 3-for-4 at the plate. Orlowski and Conner went 2-for-5. Sammy Song and Alex Rodriguez each had an RBI while going 1-for-4 and Miguel Frias went 1-for-5 with two RBIs.

In game two, the Indians struck again in the top of the seventh inning, scoring five runs leading to the 7-2 victory. Russell had another multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tyler Osik also went 2-for-3. Rodriguez finished game two going 1-for-2 and Conner had the other Coker RBI.

Forrest Arnold (2-7) was tagged with the lost in game one. He went all nine innings, scattering 10 hits and giving up three earned runs. Ryan Milner was hit with the lost in game two. He threw a complete game, giving up seven runs on 10 hits.

The Cobras will wrap up the three-game series with game three Sunday (Mar. 29) afternoon. First pitch set for 1 p.m. at Tom J. New Field.
