Conner’s Walk-Off Single Pushes Cobras Past Trojans

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College baseball team picked up a down to the wire 3-2 victory on Sunday (Mar. 8) in game three of their South Atlantic Conference series against the Anderson University Trojans.

Both teams traded runs through the first eight innings. After back-to-back errors by the Trojans in the bottom of the ninth, Dustin Russell and Anthony Scaccia were in scoring position. Anderson elected to walk Michael Orlowski to face freshman shortstop Bryson Conner. Conner answered the call by singling up the middle and plating the game-winning run to give the Cobras the 3-2 victory.

Conner  was active at the plate all afternoon, going 3-for-5 at the dish and picking up two RBIs. Russell had the other RBI while going 1-for-3.

Dallas Baldwin (2-2) went all nine innings, giving up two runs on 12 hits while striking out six Trojans.

The Navy and Yellow will have a quick turnaround as they will be back out at Tom. J New Field on Monday (Mar. 9) for a non-conference matchup against Mercyhurst University beginning at 1 p.m.
