Coker Baseball Falls to Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Coker Cobras suffered a 9-1 loss to the Catawba Indians on Friday (Mar. 21) evening in South Atlantic Conference baseball action.

The Cobras lone run of the game came off the bat of T.J. Giczkowski. The senior third baseman belted a solo home run over the left-center field fence in the top of the first inning. The Indians then scored nine unanswered runs to take home the win.

Matthew Prosser (4-3) took the loss on the mound. He allowed seven runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work.

Giczkowski finished the game 1-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored. Chase Spivey and Tyler Bires each had a hit as well.

Coker will return to the field on Saturday (Mar. 22) for a league double-header at Catawba. First pitch is scheduled for noon at Catawba's Newman Park.
