Coker Plays Host to No. 16 UNC Pembroke

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College baseball team will play host to the No. 16 UNC Pembroke Braves on Wednesday (Mar. 19).

The Cobras are coming off a double-header sweep over the Clarion University Golden Eagles. They took game one 5-0 and then finished off the sweep with a 7-3 victory.

Leading the way offensively for the Navy and Yellow is the senior trio of Ernie Kirkwood, T.J. Giczkowski and Fico Kondla. Kirkwood comes into the contest sporting a .371 batting average along with a team-high 23 RBIs. Giczkowski's 18 RBIs are good enough for third best on the squad and his six doubles are tied for tops on the team. Kondla is the team leader in stolen bases with 18 to go along with 19 RBIs.

The pitching staff is led by Matt Prosser, Ben Brown, and Alex Hernandez. Prosser leads the team with a 1.91 ERA and a 4-2 record. Brown has a 3-1 record with to go along with a 2.56 ERA. Hernandez also comes in with a 4.18 ERA.

The Braves are led by infielders Daniel Fraga and Jordan Edgerton who come in with batting averages of .441 and .432 respectively. Junior outfielder Ben Schmucker has a team-high six home runs to go along with 26 RBIs.

Coker comes into the game with a 16-9 record after winning five of its last six. The No. 16 ranked Braves come to Hartsville with a 20-6 record after taking two of three from Georgia Southwestern.
