Anderson Takes Two from Coker

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker baseball team dropped its SAC double-header to Anderson on Saturday (Mar. 1). The Trojans defeated the Cobras 6-3 and 5-4.

Matthew Prosser (3-1) suffered his first loss of the year in game one. He allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings on the hill.

T.J. Giczkowski was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Ernie Kirkwood was also 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

In game two, the Cobras held a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. A two-run homer gave the Trojans a 5-4 lead in the bottom half of the fifth. Coker battled in the final two innings, but was unable to plate another run.

Andrew Goot (0-1) took the loss. He allowed one run on four hits in an inning and a third of work.

Giczkowski went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Chase Spivey had three hits and drove in a run. Also driving in runs for the Cobras were Kirkwood and Dustin Russell.

The Cobras will return to action in a non-conference game at home on Tuesday (Mar. 4) against St. Augustine's. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
