ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker Cobras suffered a 9-5 loss to Anderson University on Friday (Feb. 28) evening in South Atlantic Conference baseball action. With the loss the Cobras move to 9-4 overall and 4-3 in league play.
Anderson took an 8-0 lead in the first four innings, but the Coker continued to battle scoring a run in the fifth and four more in the seventh to make it an 8-5 game. The Trojans added their final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 9-5 game.
Alex Hernandez (1-3) took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits with a strikeout in three innings on the mound.
Ernie Kirkwood drove in two runs to lead the Cobras at the plate, while Shea Bell was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Cobras and the Trojans will complete their three-game SAC series on Saturday (Mar. 1) with a double-header starting at 1 p.m. at Anderson's Memorial Stadium.
