Cobras Ready To Face the Lions in Weekend Series

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Cobras will host the Lions of Mars Hill University in a South Atlantic Conference three-game baseball series on Saturday (Feb. 22) and Sunday (Feb. 23). Live stats for all three games will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker is coming off a 6-2 win over Barton College on Tuesday (Feb. 18).  Fico Kondla went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Forrest Arnold earned the win, allowing two hits in one inning and a third of scoreless baseball in his collegiate debut.

Ernie Kirkwood continues to be a force to be reckoned with at the plate for the Cobras. The senior outfielder is batting .400 with two doubles, two triples and five RBIs. Kondla is also posting strong numbers at the plate. He has a .370 average, two doubles and eight stolen bases.

On the other side of the field, Mars Hill (5-7, 4-2 SAC) enters the game having lost to Brevard, 5-2, in their most recent outing. Sophomore outfielder Phillip Carroll is the leading hitter for the Lions. He is batting .350 with four doubles, two triples, one stolen base and eight RBIs.

First pitch for Saturday's double-header will begin at 12 p.m. game, followed by game two at 3 p.m., while Sunday's game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
