Coker to Host Barton in Non-Conference Game Tuesday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra baseball team will play host to the Bulldogs of Barton College in a non-conference game on Tuesday (Feb. 18) afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Coker's Tom J. New Field with live coverage available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker will put its 3-1 record at home on the line when it takes the field against the former Conference Carolinas rival. The Cobras defeated another former conference rival, Limestone, in their last game 13-6. They scored 11 runs in the final three innings to take home the win.

Senior hitters, Ernie Kirkwood and Fico Kondla continue to lead the Cobra offense. Kirkwood leads the team with a .385 batting average, four RBIs, two doubles, two triples and six runs scored. Kondla is batting .333 with three RBIs, a pair of doubles, seven runs scored and seven stolen bases.

Barton comes to Hartsville riding a two-game winning streak. The Bulldogs defeated Armstrong Atlantic 2-1 and 3-2 in their most recent games. As a team the Bulldogs have struggled at the plate, posting a team batting average of .194, but they have been lights out on the mound. The pitching staff sports a team ERA of 2.25 allowing just 12 runs in 40 innings.

Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
