Late Inning Rally Gives Coker 13-6 Win Over Limestone

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Cobra baseball team captured a 13-6 come-from-behind win against the Saints of Limestone College on Sunday (Feb. 16) afternoon in NCAA DII baseball action. With the win the Cobras improve to 4-3 on the year.

Limestone took the lead early, scoring two runs in the top of the first. After a pair of scoreless innings, the Saints added their third run of the ball game in the top of the fourth. The Cobras answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 3-2 game. Limestone regained the two-run lead with another run in the fifth.

The Cobra bats came to life in the bottom of the sixth as they scored four runs on four hits and two Limestone errors to take their first lead of the game, 6-4. Another run in the seventh and six more in the eighth gave the Cobras a commanding 13-4 lead. Limestone would tack on two more runs in the top of the ninth for a 13-6 final.

Freshman Adam Webb (1-0) picked up his first collegiate victory after tossing an inning of scoreless relief for the Cobras. He allowed just three hits. Andrew Goot also threw two shut out innings of relief.

Fico Kondla paced the Cobras at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Shea Bell was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Dustin Russell drove in three runs and Jarren Donato brought home two and scored another.  Ernie Kirkwood and Chase Spivey also drove in a run each, while T.J. Giczkowski had a pair of hits. 

The Cobras will return to the diamond on Tuesday (Feb. 18) for a home game against Barton College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
