Coker Falls to Barton in Regular Season Finale

WILSON, N.C. – Chad Nader and Brinley Griffin were the leading hitters for the Cobras in their 6-4 loss to Barton College on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Cobras to seventh place in Conference Carolinas standings.

Nader was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI, while Griffin was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Fico Kondla drove in a two runs as well for the Cobras.

Andrew Goot (6-6) was tagged with the loss. He allowed six runs on five hits with three strikeouts in three innings on the mound.

Both teams opened the game with two runs each, with Barton taking a 6-2 lead thanks to back-to-back two run innings in the third and fourth. Coker trimmed the lead to two with a run in the fifth and another in the seventh, but the Bulldogs held on for the win.

The Cobras finish the regular season with a record of 23-23 overall. Pending the results of the Erskine/Limestone series, Coker could still move to sixth place and advance to the Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament next week at Barton College.
