Coker and Mars Hill Spilt Baseball Series

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Cobra baseball team split their non-conference doubleheader with Mars Hill College on Wednesday afternoon, losing game one 6-3 and winning game two 12-9.

John Lauttenbach (Norwalk, Conn.) (1-1) took the loss in game one. He allowed four runs on four hits in an inning of work.

Jake Frazier (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.) and Taylor Martin (San Jose, Calif.) drove in a run each, leading the Cobras at the plate.

The Coker (20-20) bats came to life in game two, as the Cobras scored 12 runs on 19 hits. Frazier and Brinley Griffin (Port St. John, Fla.) were the offensive leaders. Frazier was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored, while Griffin was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Chad Nader (Rock Hill, S.C.) also collected four hits with an RBI and three runs scored and Frank Suarez (Miami, Fla.) had a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Dan Meyer (Seaford, N.Y.) (5-4) earned the win on the mound. He went 2.1 innings allowing one run on three hits.

The Cobras will be back on the diamond on Thursday, April 12, when they hit the road to take on St. Augustine's College in a non-conference game. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
