UNCP Rallies to Defeat Coker 5-3

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Frank Suarez (Miami, Fla.) had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Cobras in their 5-3 loss to the No. 29 UNC Pembroke Braves on Wednesday.

Coker held a 3-2 advantage on UNCP heading to the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Braves pushed across three runs in the bottom of the inning taking the lead and the eventual win.

Russ White (Marion, S.C.) (1-2) was saddled with the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in an inning of work. Tyler Witzel (Melbourne, Fla.) had a brilliant outing, but came away with no decision. He tossed six scoreless innings for Coker, scattering three hits, while fanning four.

Jake Frazier (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.) also had a pair of hits for the Cobras, while Keith Wolf (O'Fallon, Ill.) and Rob Quattrock (Holtsville, N.Y.) each drove in a run.

The Cobras will return home for a three-game series against Mount Olive College this weekend starting with a single game on Friday at 3:30 p.m. They will finishing up with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
