Masterful Goot Leads Cobras to 6-1 Win Over #13 UNCP

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker sophomore right-hander Andrew Goot (Ormond Beach, Fla.) was masterful on the mound as he led the Cobras to a 6-1 victory over the No. 13 Braves of UNC Pembroke on Wednesday.

Goot (1-2) was perfect through five and third innings, before allowing his first hit. He finished the game with just one hit, three walks and six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

The Cobra hitters got the job done at the plate, scoring six unanswered runs over eight innings. Leading the way was T.J. Sinnott (Denver, Pa.) was the leading hitter going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Frank Suarez (Miami, Fla.) and Fico Kondla (Miami, Fla.) each had a pair of hits for Coker with two runs scored as well.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday as they open Conference Carolinas play with the first of three games against Belmont Abbey. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Belmont Abbey.

Goot was perfect through 5.1 innings, finishing the day allowing just one hit and no runs with six strikeouts over seven innings.
