Cobras and Trojans Split Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. — The Coker baseball team spilt their non-conference doubleheader with Anderson University on Saturday, losing game one and picking up the win in game two.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday to complete their three game series at 1 p.m.

GAME ONE

In game one, sophomore third baseman Fico Kondla (Miami, Fla.) went 3-for-3 and drove in a run, but it was not enough as the Cobras lost 11-2.

Senior right-hander Sean Tracy (Farmingville, N.Y.) (0-1) got the start for Coker going just two innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits. 

Junior center fielder Chad Nader (Rock Hill, S.C.) went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, while senior right fielder Jake Frazier (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

GAME TWO

Junior lefty Dan Meyer (Seaford, N.Y.) (1-1) went the distance for the Cobras in game two picking up the win, as four different Cobra players picked up an RBI in Coker's 4-3 win.

Meyer pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts for Coker, while allowing three runs on six hits with three walks.  Junior shortstop Keith Wolf (O'Fallon, Ill.) went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored a run, and picked up an RBI. Juniors Tony Nolan (Olathe, Kansas), Frank Suarez (Miami, Fla.), and Kondla each had an RBI.

McDonald's Player of the Game- Dan Meyer

Meyer went the distance for the Cobras in game two allowing just three runs with seven strikeouts.

The McDonald's Player of the Game is presented by the Hartsville McDonald's and is given to the most outstanding performer during each Coker College home athletic event.
