Cobras Fall to St. Augustine's in Season Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College baseball team opened the 2012 season on Thursday falling to St. Augustine's College 9-1. 

The Falcons opened the game with two runs in the first, but Coker quickly answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The score remained 2-1 until the top of the fourth when St. Augustine's added another two runs. The Falcons went on to score an additional two runs in the sixth and three in the ninth.

Andrew Goot (Oldsmar, Fla.) (0-1) took the loss on the mound for the Cobras. He allowed two runs on two hits in two innings of work.

At the plate, Chad Nader (Rock Hill, S.C.) Keith Wolf (O'Fallon, Ill.) and De'Ante Scott (Bluffton, S.C.) each had a hit for the Cobras with Nader scoring the Cobras lone run.

The Cobras will be back on the diamond on Saturday when they host the Hawks of Chowan University in a non-conference doubleheader starting at noon at Tom J. New Field.

McDonald's Player of the Game- Chad Nader

Nader was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

The McDonald's Player of the Game is presented by the Hartsville McDonald's and is given to the most outstanding performer during each Coker College home athletic event.
