Coker Hall of Fame Inductee- April 24, 2001
Elizabeth “Liz” Clack-Freeman graduated from Coker College in 1995 with a political science degree. She continued her studies at Baylor University School of Law and graduated from there in 1998 at the top of her class and in the top 10% of all Baylor graduates.
A softball stand-out and team captain while she was at Coker, Clack-Freeman pitched 82 victories and tallied only 15 losses, putting her No. 2 on the career all-time win list with a .845 winning percentage. Her career 1.80 ERA is No. 3 on Coker’s all time list. The softball team’s four-year record under Clack-Freeman was 145 wins and just 31 losses. Each year of her college career, from 1992-1995, Clack-Freeman was named to the All-conference Team. She was also named Conference Player of the Year and Regional Tournament Player of the Year in 1992.
In 1993, she received All-American honors and in 1995, the NCAA selected her Woman of the Year for South Carolina. In 1994 and 1995, Clack-Freeman won Coker College’s C.G. Timberlake Athlete of the Year Award and the Murphy Osborne Scholar-Athlete Award from the Caronlinas Virginia Athletic Conference. While at Coker, Clack-Freeman was a member of the Board of Trustees. She was also a volunteer math tutor in the Hartsville community.
