Dr. Lynn Griffin has served as Coker's Director of Athletics since 2010 and in 2012 was promoted to Vice President of Athletics and Athletics Facilities. During her time at Coker, the Cobras have grown and succeeded in several areas of athletics. She has been a driving force behind the addition of eleven new sports: men's lacrosse (2011-12), men's volleyball (2012-13), wrestling (2013-14), women's lacrosse (2013-14), men's and women's track and field (2014-15) men's and women's indoor track & field (2015-16), field hockey (2018-19), esports (2018-19), and acrobatics and tumbling (2019-20). Under her leadership, Coker made the transition to a new athletics conference, the South Atlantic Conference in July 2013.

Griffin also helped bring the Harris E. and Louis H. DeLoach Center to life. The 71,000 square-foot athletics facility that opened in June 2014. Designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, the facility will have a main gymnasium with seating capacity of 1,908 and a wide-range of features including practice gym, classroom space, state-of-the-art training rooms, offices, a conference room and a cafe. 

Most recently, Griffin assisted with the upgrade of numerous outdoor athletic facilites, including the addition of new synthetic turf to the Coker Athletic Field, baseball field updates, new softball dugouts and the resurfacing of the tennis courts.    

In 2013, Griffin was inducted into the Tarleton State Athletic Hall of Fame in June of 2013. She was inducted along with the entire 1991-92 women's basketball team. She served as an assistant coach for the TexAnns for two years while completing her master’s degree. During her second season under head coach Jan Lowrey, Tarleton State reached the NAIA Division II National Tournament, finishing second to Northern State College of South Dakota. Boasting four All-Americans that year, the TexAnns compiled a 30-8 overall record with an 8-0 mark in District VIII play. They finished the season ranked second overall in Division II.

In 2010, Griffin received the Indiana Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD) Pathfinder Award. Given to just one female member of Indiana AHPERD each year, the Pathfinder Award was established to honor members of Indiana AHPERD who have and/or continue to advocate, recruit and enhance opportunities for girls and women in sport and sport leadership.  In addition, she was awarded the Indiana Pathfinder award by the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport. 

Griffin came to Coker after spending seven years at the University of Indianapolis as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics where she oversaw 12 of the institutions 21 athletics programs. In 2008, the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) named her NCAA Division II Administrator of the Year.

Griffin has been active within the governance structure of NCAA Division II.  She served on the NCAA Division II Management Council from 2015-2019, served on the NCAA Division II Nominating Committee, serving as the chair from 2014-16, and has also served on two NCAA championship committees (women’s basketball and swimming and diving). In addition, she has served on the women's tennis and women's lacrosse RAC.  She is an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and NACWAA. Griffin serves as an instructor in Coker's Masters of Science in College Athletic Administration program.

Prior to her time at the University of Indianapolis, Griffin was the Associate Director of Athletics, Compliance Coordinator, Senior Woman Administrator, Head Women's Basketball Coach, and Sport Studies Instructor at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. Before St. Andrews, Griffin was the head women’s basketball coach and physical education instructor at the University of South Dakota. Prior to USD, she was an assistant woman’s basketball coach and Physical Education instructor at UNC-Asheville.  

Griffin received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she was a two-sport athlete, women’s basketball and softball.  At Tarleton she earned a master's degree in exercise and sports studies. She earned her doctorate in education in sport management from Northcentral University in 2011.
