Jake Miller was elevated to Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations in September 2021.

Miller was named the Director of Athletics Media Relations at Coker College, announced by Vice President of Athletics and Athletic Facilities Lynn Griffin on June 6, 2019.

Miller comes back to Hartsville after one year as the first-ever Assistant Sports Information Director and New Media Manager at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C. He assisted in coverage of 19 NCAA Division II programs, two Division I cycling (USA Cycling) programs and also four club sport programs, while working extensively with the department’s social and digital media. He was the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s cycling, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s lacrosse.

“We are excited to bring Jake back to Coker,” said Griffin. “His time here at Coker, as well as Lees-McRae and Bloomsburg, have provided him the necessary experience to grow our Athletics Media Relations department. He is familiar with all 24 athletics programs at Coker and is committed to ensuring that our student-athletes receive the coverage they deserve”.

Prior to Lees-McRae, Miller spent the 2017-18 academic year as a sports information intern at his alma mater, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. While at BU, Miller was responsible for covering and promoting men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, softball, women’s lacrosse and the Division I wrestling program.

Miller worked for two years (2015-2017) as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Coker while obtaining his master’s degree. He was responsible for coverage of women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s basketball, wrestling, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s lacrosse and baseball. Miller was also involved in broadcasting and game management during his time at Coker.

Miller arrived in Hartsville in August 2015 after completing an internship in the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer baseball league based out of Holly Springs, N.C.

“I am grateful to Dr. Griffin and Coker College for the opportunity to come back in a big role,” said Miller. “I enjoyed the time I spent here as a graduate assistant, and it is certainly a great place to take the next step in my career. I look forward to telling the stories of Coker Athletics and promoting the great things that are happening here.”

As an undergraduate student at Bloomsburg, Miller got his start in the field working two years in the sports information office as a student assistant.

The Shrewsbury, Pa. native graduated from Bloomsburg in 2015 with a bachelor of arts in mass communications with a concentration in public relations, and also holds a master’s of science in college athletic administration from Coker College which he earned in 2016.
