Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at women’s lacrosse players Claudia Jenkins and Kaitlyn Kimball Click here for spotlights.

Men’s Volleyball

  • This week’s matches:
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – King
    • Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Alderson-Broaddus @ King
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Univ. of Charleston (W) – 3-1
    • Barton (L) – 3-1
  • The Cobras went 1-1 last week with a win over the University of Charleston. This week they will wrap-up their season with a road trip to King to take on the Tornado and Alderson-Broaddus.

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

  • This week’s meets:
    • None
  • Last week’s meets:
    • Wingate Invitational
  • Last week the men’s and women’s track & field teams had outstanding showings at the Wingate Invitational. The women’s team had seven athletes finish in the top three in their events, while the men had 12 top three finishers.

Baseball

  • This week’s games:
    • Monday at 5:00 p.m. (A) – St. Augustine’s
    • Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Limestone
    • Friday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – Lincoln Memorial
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Lincoln Memorial (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Claflin (W) – 20-8
    • St. Andrews (L) – 17-8
    • Tusculum – 10-3 (L), 13-5 (W), 4-3 (W)
  • The Cobras took home the SAC series win over Tusculum last week, 2-1. This week they will hit the road to St. Augustine’s and Limestone before returning home for their final home games of the season on Friday and Saturday against Lincoln Memorial.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

  • This week’s matches:
    • Monday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Mars Hill
    • Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Wingate
    • Thursday at 2:00 a.m. (H) – Newberry
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Queens – 8-1 (L) – women, 7-2 (L) – men
    • Carson-Newman – 5-4 (W) – women, 6-3 (W) – men
  • Both Coker tennis teams went 1-1 last week. This week they will take on three SAC opponents starting with Mars Hill on Monday, followed by Wingate on Tuesday and finally they will host Newberry on Thursday.

Softball

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Wingate (DH)
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Tusculum (DH)
    • Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Mars Hill (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Lenoir-Rhyne – 7-2 (L), 8-2 (L)
    • King – 5-1 (L), 9-1 (L)
  • The Coker softball team will be looking to get back on track this week as they host Wingate on Wednesday and then hit the road to Tusculum and Mars Hill on Saturday and Sunday.  

Women’s Lacrosse

  • This week’s games:
    • Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard
  • Last week’s games:
    • Lenoir-Rhyne (L) – 20-11
    • Tusculum (W) – 12-8
  • The Cobras went 1-1 last week, with an impressive 12-8 win over Tusculum. This week they will wrap-up regular season play at Brevard on Saturday.

Men’s Lacrosse

  • This week’s games:
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard
  • Last week’s games:
    • Tusculum (W) – 11-10 (OT)
  • The SAC leading Cobra men picked up an impressive overtime win over Tusculum last week to improve to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in conference. This week they will take the field for their final regular season game of the year at Brevard.   

Men’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • Monday-Tuesday at Mount Olive Invitational in Goldsboro, N.C.
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • None
  • The Coker men’s golf team will travel to Goldsboro, N.C. this week to take part in the Mount Olive Invitational. This will be their final regular season tournament before the SAC Championship.   

Women’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • Sunday-Tuesday at SAC Women’s Golf Championship in Sevierville, Tenn.    
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • Cherokee Valley Invitational – 3 of 9
  • Last week the Coker women wrapped up the regular season portion of their schedule with a third place finish at the Cherokee Valley Invitational. This week they will hit the links at the SAC Women’s Golf Championship in Sevierville, Tenn. April 12-14. Last year, the Cobras finished second at the SAC Championship.
