Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Men’s Volleyball

  • This week’s matches:

  • Last week’s matches:
    • Milligan (W) – 3-0
    • King (L) – 3-1
  • The Cobras went 1-1 last week in their final matches of the 2015 season. They finished the year winning 10 matches.  

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

  • This week’s meets:
    • Friday-Saturday at SAC Championships in Hickory, N.C.
  • Last week’s meets:
    • None
  • This week the Coker men’s and women’s track & field teams will travel to Hickory, N.C. to take part in the SAC Championship.

Baseball

  • This week’s games:
    • Monday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Mars Hill @ UNC Ashville (DH)
    • Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Voorhees
    • Friday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – Newberry
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Newberry (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • St. Augustine’s (W) – 11-10
    • Limestone (W) – 17-11
    • Lincoln Memorial – 8-2 (L), 12-5 (L), 9-4 (L)
  • The Cobras wrapped up the home portion of their schedule last week. This week they will take the field for their final six games of the regular season.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

    • Thursday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Queens – SAC Women’s Tennis Championship - Quarterfinals
    • Friday at 1:00 (A) – SAC Women’s Tennis Championship – Semifinals
    • Saturday 1:00 (A) – SAC Women’s Tennis Championship – Finals
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Mars Hill– 6-1 (W) – women, 5-4 (W) – men
    • Wingate – 7-2 (L) – women, 8-1 (L) – men
    • Newberry – 5-4 (L) – women, 5-4 (L) – men
  • The Coker women’s tennis team earned the No. 6 seed and they will take on the No. 3 seed Queens in the quarterfinals of the SAC Women’s Tennis Championship on Thursday.

Softball

  • This week’s games:
    • Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Newberry (DH)
    • Thursday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – St. Andrews (DH)
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Anderson (DH)
    • Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Brevard (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Wingate – 4-3 (W), 9-5 (W)
    • Tusculum – 8-0 (L) – 5 innings, 5-4 (L)
    • Mars Hill – 8-5 (W), 9-1 (L) – 5 innings
  • The Coker softball team went 3-3 last week in their SAC games, this week they will take the field for their final eight games of the regular season, six of which will be played at home.   

Women’s Lacrosse

    • Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. (A) – Tusculum – SAC Championship - Quarterfinals
    • Friday at 6:30 p.m. (A) – SAC Championship – Semifinals
    • Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (A) – SAC Championship – Finals
  • Last week’s games:
    • Brevard (W) – 19-14
  • The Cobras closed out the regular season with a 19-14 win over Brevard last week. This week they will hit the road to the No. 3 seed Tusculum for the quarterfinals of the SAC Championship. The Cobras are the No. 6 seed in the tournament.  

Men’s Lacrosse

    • Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (A) – SAC Championship - Semifinals
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – SAC Championship – Finals
  • Last week’s games:
    • Brevard (W) – 15-7
  • The Cobra men secured the SAC Regular Season Championship with a 15-7 win over Brevard last week and earned the No. 2 seed in the SAC Tournament. With a first round bye, the Cobras will await the winner of the No. 3 seed Lenoir-Rhyne and the No. 6 seed Brevard. They will face the winner in the semifinals of the SAC Championship on Thursday at Queens University of Charlotte.

Men’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • Sunday-Tuesday at SAC Men’s Golf Championship in Charlotte, N.C.
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • Mount Olive Invitational – 8 of 13
  • The Coker men’s golf team will travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take part in the SAC Men’s Golf Championship beginning on Sunday (Apr. 19).

Women’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • Sunday-Tuesday at SAC Women’s Golf Championship in Sevierville, Tenn.    
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • None
  • The Cobras hit the links this week at the SAC Women’s Golf Championship in Sevierville, Tenn. After the first round of play the women at in seventh place.
