Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Men’s Volleyball

  • This week’s matches:
    • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (A) – Univ. of Charleston @ Barton
    • Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – Barton
  • Last week’s matches:
    • North Greenville (W) – 3-1
    • Warner (W) – 3-1
    • Bluefield (W) – 3-0
    • Warner (L) – 3-0
  • The Cobras picked up three victories last week as they closed out the home portion of their schedule. This week they will hit the road to Barton College to take part in a tri-match against the University of Charleston and Barton.

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

  • This week’s meets:
    • None
  • Last week’s meets:
    • Winthrop Invitational
  • Last week the men’s and women’s track & field teams took part in the Winthrop Invitational. The two teams will now begin preparations for the South Atlantic Conference Championships on April 17-18 in Hickory, N.C.

Baseball

  • This week’s games:
    • Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. (A) – Claflin
    • Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – St. Andrews
    • Friday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Tusculum
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Tusculum (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • UNC Pembroke (L) – 20-5
    • Voorhees (W) – 39-0
    • Catawba – 5-4 (L), 7-2 (L), 10-0 (L)
  • The Cobras will open the week on the road at Claflin. They will then return to the friendly confines of Tom J. New Field for four games, including a three-game weekend SAC series against Tusculum.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

  • This week’s matches:
    • Thursday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Queens
    • Friday at 10:00 a.m. (H) – Carson-Newman
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Lenoir-Rhyne – 6-3 (W) – women, 5-4 (W) – men
    • Tusculum – 8-1 (L) – women, 8-1 (L) – men
  • The Coker women’s tennis team moved to 4-2 in the SAC with a win over Lenoir-Rhyne last week. This week the Cobras will play host to Queens and Carson-Newman in a pair of SAC matches on Thursday and Friday.   

Softball

  • This week’s games:
    • Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Lenoir-Rhyne (DH)
    • Friday at 2:30 p.m. (A) – King (DH)
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Queens – 5-2 (L), 2-1 (W)
    • Belmont Abbey – 7-1 (W), 7-6 (W)
  • The Coker softball team went 3-1 last week, including a non-conference sweep of Belmont Abbey. This week they will host Lenoir-Rhyne and then hit the road to King and Brevard.

Women’s Lacrosse

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – Lenoir-Rhyne
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Tusculum – Senior Day
  • Last week’s games:
    • Colorado State-Pueblo (W) – 12-9
    • Erskine (W) – 19-11
    • Catawba (L) – 12-9
  • The Cobras went 2-1 last week. This week they will play host to Lenoir-Rhyne and Tusculum in a pair of SAC games.

Men’s Lacrosse

  • This week’s games:
    • Friday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – Senior Day
  • Last week’s games:
    • Wingate (W) – 8-6
    • Catawba (W) – 8-5
  • The Coker men’s lacrosse team went 2-0 last week to move into a tie for first place in the SAC standings. This week the Cobras will take the field for their final regular season home game of the year on Friday against Tusculum. The game will be played at the Coker Soccer Field at 4 p.m.  

Men’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • None
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • Bearcat Golf Classic – 11 of 17
  • The Coker men’s golf team took home 11th place at the Bearcat Golf Classic last week. Will Bundy tied for fourth place overall with a three-round total of 211. His 54-hole total of 211 tied him for the second lowest tournament score in Coker men’s golf history.  

Women’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • Monday-Tuesday at Cherokee Valley Invitational in Travelers Rest, S.C.   
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • Wingate Invitational – 13 of 16
  • Last week the Coker women placed 13th at the Wingate Invitational. This week the women will tee it up at the Cherokee Valley Golf Club for the Cherokee Valley Invitational hosted by North Greenville University.
