Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Wrestling

• This week’s matches:
  • Friday – Saturday - NCAA National Championship in Cleveland, Ohio
• Last week’s matches:
  • None
• Charlie Huff will become the first Cobra wrestler to compete for a NCAA National Championship when he takes the mat on Friday in Cleveland, Ohio. The junior finished fourth individually in the 133-pound division at the NCAA Midwest Regional and qualified for the NCAA Championship.

Women’s Basketball

• This week’s games:

  • Lenoir-Rhyne (L) – 82-69 – SAC Women’s Basketball Championship Quarterfinals
• The women’s basketball season came to an end last week with a 82-69 loss to the #1 seed Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne.

Men’s Basketball

• This week’s games:

• Last week’s games:
  • Carson-Newman (W) – 80-72 – SAC Men’s Basketball Championship Quarterfinals
  • Anderson (L) – 100-89 – SAC Men’s Basketball Championship Semifinals
• The Cobra men finished off the 2013-14 season with an impressive upset victory over the #2 seed Carson-Newman in the quarterfinals of the SAC Basketball Championship. The Cobras then suffered a tough loss to the #3 seed Anderson in the semifinals.

Men’s Volleyball

• This week’s matches:
  • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – Mount Olive
  • Sunday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Emmanuel
  • Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Alderson-Broaddus
• Last week’s matches:
  • None
• The men’s volleyball team will host Mount Olive, Emmanuel and Alderson-Broaddus in a three-match home stand this weekend.     

Baseball

• This week’s games:
  • Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. (A) – Claflin
  • Friday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Carson-Newman
  • Saturday (DH) at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. (H) – Carson-Newman 
• Last week’s games:
  • St. Andrews (W) – 5-1
  • Lenoir-Rhyne – 2-0 (L), 5-4 (W)
• After going 2-1 last week, the Cobras will travel to Claflin for a non-conference game on Tuesday before returning home for a three-game SAC series against Carson-Newman over the weekend.

Men’s & Women’s Tennis

  • Friday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Carson-Newman

• The Cobras will hit the road for a four-match road trip this week, including three South Atlantic Conference matches.

Men’s & Women’s Golf

  • (M) Richard Rendleman Invitational – 3 of 18
  • (W) Lady Pirate Invitational – 12 of 16
• The Coker men’s golf team finished third at the Richard Rendleman Invitational last week, while the women finished 12^th at the Lady Pirate Invitational. This week the women will hit the links once again. This time at the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational.

Softball

• This week’s games:
  • Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Johnson C. Smith (DH)
  • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Carson-Newman (DH)
• Last week’s games:
  • Barton– 6-1 (L), 2-0 (W)
• Coker softball split its two-game series with Barton last week. This week the Cobras will host Johnson C. Smith and then hit the road to Carson-Newman.

Men’s Lacrosse

• This week’s games:
  • Thursday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Dominican (Cal.)
  • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – Tusculum
• Last week’s games:
  • Queens – 11-10 (L)
  • Ohio Valley – 15-9 (W)
• The Coker men’s lacrosse team split last week’s competitions. This week the Cobras will host Dominican College in a non-conference game and then travel to Tusculum for a SAC game on Saturday.

Women’s Lacrosse
