Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at men’s lacrosse players; Sean Buff and Dylan Marks Click here for spotlights.

Wrestling

  • This week’s matches:
    • Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Davidson/Campbell – Tri-Match
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Anderson (W) – 24-15
  • Last week the Cobras picked up a 24-15 win over regionally ranked No. 11 Anderson. This week Coker will travel to Davidson College to take on Davidson and Campbell in a tri-match.  

Women’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (H) – Catawba
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard
  • Last week’s games:
    • Lenoir-Rhyne (W) – 64-58
    • Mars Hill (L) – 73-53
  • Last week the Coker women went 1-1 with a win over Lenoir-Rhyne. This week the women will host Catawba on Wednesday in their Play 4 Kay breast cancer awareness game. Coker will also be giving away free pink "Play 4 Kay" rally towels to the first 150 fans in attendance. Fans are asked to wear pink to the game in support of breast cancer awareness.

Men’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. (H) – Catawba
    • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard
  • Last week’s games:
    • Lenoir-Rhyne (L) – 46-45
    • Mars Hill (W) – 76-69
  • Last week the Cobra men also went 1-1, picking up a SAC win over Mars Hill. This week the men will play host to Catawba and then travel to Brevard. Wednesday’s Catawba game will be Carolina Pines night with Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center employees receiving free admission to both the women’s and men’s games.

Men’s Volleyball

  • This week’s matches:
    • Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Barton
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Erskine (L) – 3-1
    • Univ. of Charleston (W) – 3-0
    • Alderson Broaddus (L) – 3-0
  • The Cobras picked up a 3-0 shutout victory against the University of Charleston last week. This week they will host Barton College on Tuesday night.

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

  • This week’s meets:
    • None
  • Last week’s meets:
    • USC Open
  • Last week the Coker men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in the USC Open.

Baseball

  • This week’s games:
    • Monday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – St. Augustine’s
    • Friday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Wingate
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Wingate (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Brevard – 11-5 (L), 6-5 (L), 1-0 (W)
  • The Cobra baseball team earned a 1-0 victory over Brevard last week. This week they will play the first four games of a nine-game home stand. The first game will be on Monday against St. Augustine’s, followed by a three-game SAC series on Friday and Saturday against Wingate.  

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

  • This week’s matches:
    • Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – USC Aiken
  • Last week’s matches:
    • UNC Pembroke – 5-4 (W) – women
    • Benedict – 7-2 (W) – women, 9-0 (W) – men
    • Anderson – 6-3 (L) – women, 8-1 (L) – men
  • Last week the Cobra women went 2-1 with wins over UNC Pembroke and Benedict. The men also picked up a win over Benedict. This week Coker will play host to USC Aiken on Wednesday.

Softball

  • This week’s games:
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Barton (DH)
    • Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Johnson C. Smith (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Kutztown – 5-4 (W)
    • Pfeiffer – 9-0 (W)
    • Concord – 4-2 (W)
    • Pfeiffer – 9-8 (L) (8 inn.)
    • UNC Pembroke – 4-3 (L)
  • The Coker softball team opened its 2015 season by going 3-2 at the UNC Pembroke Invitational. This week the Cobras will host Barton in their home opener on Saturday, then they will travel Johnson C. Smith on Sunday.

Women’s Lacrosse

  • This week’s games:
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (H) – Lees-McRae
  • Last week’s games:
    • Mount Olive – 18-4 (L)
  • The Coker women’s lacrosse team will host the Bobcats of Lees-McRae in a non-conference game on Saturday.

Men’s Lacrosse

  • The Coker men’s lacrosse team will open its 2015 season on Saturday by hosting the Saint Leo Lions.
