Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Wrestling

  • This week’s matches:
    • Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Anderson – Senior Night
    • Saturday at 8:00 a.m. (A) – King Duals
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Seton Hill (W) – 24-14
    • #8 Lake Erie (W) – 18-13
    • Shippensburg (L) – 23-13
    • Findlay (L) – 27-15
  • Last week the Cobras went 2-2 at the Super Regional Duals defeating Seton Hill and No. 8 Lake Erie. This week the Cobras will return home for their final home match of the season on Wednesday against Anderson. It will be senior night for the Cobras. Coach Cy Wainwright and the Cobras will honor their four seniors prior to the start of the match.

Women’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – Lenoir-Rhyne
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Mars Hill
  • Last week’s games:
    • Wingate (L) – 71-44
    • Lincoln Memorial (W) – 67-62
  • Last week the Coker women went 1-1 with an impressive win over Lincoln Memorial. This week they will hit the road for a pair of SAC games at Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday and at Mars Hill on Saturday.

Men’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. (A) – Lenoir-Rhyne
    • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (A) – Mars Hill
  • Last week’s games:
    • Wingate (W) – 67-62
    • #2 Lincoln Memorial (L) – 62-58
  • Last week the Cobra men also went 1-1, picking up a SAC win over Wingate. This week they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday and to Mars Hill on Saturday.

Men’s Volleyball

  • This week’s matches:
    • Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – Erskine
    • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – Univ. of Charleston
    • Saturday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Alderson Broaddus
  • Last week’s matches:
    • New Jersey Institute of Technology (L) – 3-0
  • This week the Cobras will travel to Erskine on Tuesday. They will then return home to take on the University of Charleston and Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

  • Last week the Coker men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in the Hilton Garden Invitational.

Baseball

  • This week’s games:
    • Friday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – Brevard (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Chowan – 3-2 (L), 6-4 (W)
  • The Cobra baseball team split its season opening doubleheader with Chowan last week. This week the Cobras will begin South Atlantic Conference play by traveling to Brevard for a three-game series.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

  • This week’s matches:
    • Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – UNC Pembroke (W)
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Benedict (M & W)
    • Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Anderson (M & W)
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Lander – 9-0 (L) – women, 9-0 (L) - men
  • This week the Cobra tennis teams will take the court for three matches. The women will host UNC Pembroke on Tuesday. Then both the men and women will host Benedict on Saturday. They will then travel to Anderson for their first SAC matches of the season on Sunday.

Softball

    • Friday at 6:30 p.m. (A) – Pfeiffer – UNC Pembroke Invitational

  • The Coker softball team will open the 2015 season this week by traveling to the UNC Pembroke Invitational Tournament for six games during the three-day event.
