Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at women’s basketball players; Hailey Yohn and Sydney Shull. Click here for spotlights.

Wrestling

  • This week’s matches:
    • None
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Midwest Classic – 11 of 26
  • The Coker wrestling team finished 11th out of 26 teams at the 36th Annual Midwest Classic last week. Leading the way were Travis Laxton, Kevin Thompson, Rashad Cunningham and Luis Peguero.  Laxton placed second in the 125-pound weight class, Thompson placed seventh in the 141-pound division, Cunningham came in fourth in the 149-pound weight class and Peguero finished sixth in the 184-pound division.

Women’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Monday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – GRU Augusta
    • Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – Less-McRae
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) - Pfeiffer
  • Last week’s games:
    • Mars Hill (L) – 70-56
  • The Coker women will play three games this week, including their final home game of the 2014 calendar year on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Lees-McRae.

Men’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (A) – South Carolina
  • Last week’s games:
    • Mars Hill (L) – 76-73
  • The Cobras will travel to Columbia, S.C. for one of their biggest games of the season on Sunday against the University of South Carolina. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena. Tickets for the game are available at www.gamecocksonline.com and the game will be broadcast live online on the SEC Network Plus.
