Cobra Spotlights
The "Cobra Spotlights" is a weekly highlight of student-athletes at Coker College. Each week we take a look at different athletes from different sports and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at women’s volleyball players; Kara Overholt and Olivia Veith. Click here for spotlights.
Women’s Volleyball
- This week’s matches:
- Friday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Anderson – Senior Night
- Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Newberry
- Last week’s matches:
- UNC Pembroke – (L) 3-2
- Queens – (L) 3-0
- Catawba – (L) 3-0
- This week the Cobras will wrap-up their 2015 season with a pair of home matches against Anderson and Newberry. Friday night’s match against Anderson will be senior night for the Cobras as they will honor their lone senior, Loren Hill.
Men’s & Women’s Cross Country

- NCAA Southeast Regional - women - 21 of 27, men - 15 of 22
- The Coker cross country teams concluded their seasons last week with a pair of standout performances at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship. The women came in 21st, while the men placed 15th overall. Hannah Weibel led the women with a time of 25:23 and Jacob Chebii led the men with a 25th place finish and a time of 34:37.
Wrestling

- Pembroke Classic
- The Cobra wrestling team had an outstanding start to the season at the Pembroke Classic last week. Seven wrestlers placed at the tournament, including a pair of tournament victories by Derrick Nelson (133-lbs.) and Jordan Tague (149-lbs.). This week the Cobras will play host to their first dual match of the season on Wednesday against St. Andrews. The match will also mark the first-ever “Art Meets Art” match that will take place in Coker’s Watson Theater at the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center and will feature performances by the Coker dance department between matches.

- Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (A) – Belmont Abbey – SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge @ Limestone College

- This week the Coker women’s basketball team begins its 2015-16 season when they hit the road to Limestone College to take part in the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge. The Cobras will face Limestone on Friday night and they will take on Belmont Abbey on Saturday.

- This week the Coker men begin its 2015-16 season when they hit the road to Erskine College to take part in the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge. The Cobras will face North Greenville on Friday afternoon and they will take on Erskine on Saturday.
