Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Wrestling

  • This week’s matches:
    • Saturday-Sunday at Super Region Duals hosted by Tiffin (Ohio) University
      • Saturday at 9:00 a.m. (A) – Shippensburg
      • Saturday at 11:00 a.m. (A) – Lake Erie
      • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Seton Hill
      • Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Findlay
      • Sunday at 9:00 a.m. (A) – Tiffin
      • Sunday at 11:00 a.m. (A) – Univ. of Indianapolis
  • Last week’s matches:
    • #14 UNC Pembroke (L) – 20-15
  • This week the Coker wrestling team will travel north to Tiffin, Ohio, to take part in the Super Region Duals hosted by Tiffin University on Saturday and Sunday. The Cobras will take the mat for six matches during the two-day event.

Women’s Basketball

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (H) – Wingate – Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Lincoln Memorial
  • Last week’s games:
    • Newberry (L) – 69-63
    • Tusculum (L) – 75-66
  • The Coker women will return home this week for a pair of South Atlantic Conference contests against Wingate and Lincoln Memorial. Wednesday’s game against Wingate will be Coker Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. All Coker faculty and staff will receive a free t-shirt, a free small drink with any food purchase at the concession stand and they will receive 25% off at the Coker Team Store. There will also be special contests and drawings during the game just for Coker faculty and staff.

    • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (H) – #2 Lincoln Memorial
  • Last week’s games:
    • Newberry (W) – 90-74
    • Tusculum (L) – 89-78
  • Last week the Cobra men also went 1-1, picking up an impressive SAC win over Newberry (90-74). This week they will play two games at home against Wingate on Wednesday and versus No. 2 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.  Wednesday’s game against Wingate will be Coker Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.   • The Coker men’s volleyball team will play its first home match of the 2015 season this week on Thursday night against the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

  • Last week’s meets:

  • The Coker men’s and women’s track & field teams will hit the road to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take part in the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational on Friday.

Baseball

  • The Cobra baseball team will begin its 2015 campaign by hitting the road to Chowan University on Sunday.
