Coker Begins Addition of New Synthetic Turf Surface on Coker Athletic Field

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The addition of a new synthetic turf surface will begin Tuesday (Jun. 12) on the Coker Athletic Field, a move that should have an immediate, positive impact on the Cobras' athletic programs. The turf will replace the previous surface of natural grass on the Coker Athletic Field.

"The addition of the new synthetic surface will provide our teams the opportunity to practice and compete on a first class playing field," said Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin.

The turf will serve Coker's NCAA Division II men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and newly added field hockey programs. The anticipated completion of the project is set for early August, just in time for the beginning of the fall sports season.

Warners Athletic, owned by Coker graduate and former Cobra baseball player, Lou Warner, will be completing the project.

Fans are encouraged to follow the progress of the new turf field at www.cokercobras.com, Facebook (Coker College Cobras), Twitter (@Coker_Cobras), and Instagram (@cokercobras).
