Coker Announces 2018-19 Fall Sports Schedules

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker College athletics has announced the 2018-19 fall schedules for women's volleyball, women's soccer, men's soccer, cross country, and the inaugural field hockey season.

The Coker women's volleyball team will begin their season a week earlier than years past, hosting the Coker Tournament from Aug. 24-25. Next, the Cobras will make the short drive to UNC-Pembroke to compete in a tournament against Fayetteville St., Shaw, Lees-McRae, and UNC-Pembroke from Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Coker will begin South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play on Sept. 4 when they travel to Queens, followed by a road trip to Anderson on Sept. 7. The Navy and Gold will open up their home schedule in the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center on Sept. 14, hosting Mars Hill, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne on Sept. 15, and Wingate on Sept. 18. Coker will cap off September by traveling to Carson-Newman (Sept. 22), and hosting Queens (Sept. 25), Newberry (Sept. 28), and Anderson (Sept. 29).

October presents a full slate of conference matches that will take place on the road. The Cobras will travel to Lincoln Memorial (Oct. 5), Tusculum (Oct. 6), Mars Hill (Oct. 12), Wingate (Oct. 16), Lenoir-Rhyne (Oct. 23), Newberry (Oct. 26), and Catawba (Oct. 30). The Navy and Gold will host Catawba (Oct. 9) and Carson-Newman (Oct. 20) in October. Coker will wrap up their regular season schedule in November when they host Lincoln Memorial (Nov. 2) and Tusculum (Nov. 3). The South Atlantic Conference Championships will take place on Nov. 6 and Nov. 9-10. Coker will host the tournament on Nov. 9-10 in the DeLoach Center.

The Coker women's soccer team will begin their season on Aug. 30 when they host non-conference foe Barton at 5 p.m. Next, the Cobras will take the short trip to Francis Marion for a non-conference match on Sept. 5. Coker will open up their SAC schedule on Sept. 12 against Anderson at 4:30 p.m. on the Coker Athletic Field. Following their SAC opener, the Cobras will compete in a four-match slate on the road, taking on USC Beaufort (Sept. 15), Wingate (Sept. 19), Carson-Newman (Sept. 22), and Shaw (Sept. 25). The Navy and Gold will wrap up the month of September by hosting Queens at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.

Coker will start play in October with three-straight matches at home, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne (Oct. 3), Mars Hill (Oct. 6), and Montevallo (Oct. 10). Next, the Cobras will partake in another four-match road trip, this time traveling to Catawba (Oct. 13), Newberry (Oct. 17), Lincoln Memorial (Oct. 20), and Lander (Oct. 24). Coker will finish regular season action at the Coker Athletic Field against Tusculum at 1 p.m.

The Coker men's soccer team will kick-off their season with a pair of non-conference road matches. First, the Cobras will travel to Mount Olive on Aug. 30, before heading to Barton on Sept. 1. Next, the Cobras will compete against Belmont Abbey in their home opener on Sept. 5. Coker will remain at home for the next two matches, challenging Anderson on Sept. 12 and Flagler on Sept. 15. Following their three-match homestand, the Navy and Gold will hit the road for three-straight competitions against Wingate (Sept. 19), Carson-Newman (Sept. 22), and Shaw (Sept. 26). The Cobras will transition from the month of September to October with three-straight home matches against Queens (Sept. 29), Lenoir-Rhyne (Oct. 3), and Mars Hill (Oct. 6). Coker will look to finish the season strong with a challenging four-match slate on the road. The opponents during the road stretch include Francis Marion (Oct. 10), Catawba (Oct. 13), Newberry (Oct. 17), and Lincoln Memorial (Oct. 20). The Cobras will host Tusculum on Oct. 27 to wrap up their regular season schedule.

The Coker men's and women's cross country teams will begin their 2018 season on Sept. 1, when they take on the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C. The Navy and Gold will finish up competition in the month of September with the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational (Sept. 15) and the Queens Royal Challenge (Sept. 28). A trip to the High Point Vert Cross Invitational on Oct. 12 will wrap up the regular season for the Cobras. Coker will compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Nov. 3. The NCAA DII Southeast Championships will take place on Nov. 17 and the NCAA DII National Championships will be held on Dec. 1 in Evansville, Ind.

The Coker field hockey team will begin their inaugural season on Sept. 4 when they travel to SAC opponent Newberry. Next, the Cobras will travel to Pennsylvania to compete against Bloomsburg (Sept. 8) and Millersville (Sept. 9). The Navy and Gold will return to Hartsville for their home opener on Sept. 16 against Newberry, followed by a home game against Limestone on Sept. 23. Coker will finish up the month of September when they travel to Converse on Sept. 27. In October, the Cobras will travel to Queens on Oct. 3, before returning home to take on Belmont Abbey (Oct. 10), and Queens (Oct. 17). Coker will once again head to Pennsylvania to play Seton Hill on Oct. 28 to wrap up the month. Coker will finish up regular season action with three games in November. First, Coker will host Converse on Nov. 3, before traveling to Limestone (Nov. 7) and Belmont Abbey (Nov. 10).
