Coker Student-Athletes Excel in Classroom During Fall Semester

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Over 400 Coker College student-athletes excelled in the classroom this past fall semester by accumulating a notable 3.1366 semester grade point average (GPA) and a 3.0896 cumulative GPA.

In addition to the impressive department fall semester GPA, 223 Coker student-athletes finished with a 3.0 semester GPA or higher and 207 student-athletes have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Coker student-athletes have also excelled with their Academic Success Rate. Each year, the NCAA publicly announces the Academic Success Rate (ASR) of all Division II institutions. According to the most recent Academic Success Rate data, 73 percent of Division II freshmen student-athletes who entered college earned a degree. The graduation-rate data are based on a six-year cohort prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education. The Cobras are above the national average with an 80% ASR.

"I am proud of the academic performance of our student-athletes during the fall semester," said vice president for athletics and athletic facilities, Dr. Lynn Griffin. "They continue to understand the importance of their academic careers at Coker. It is important to highlight the relationship that our coaches and faculty have and the effort made by all to aid our student-athletes in their academic success."
