HARTSVILLE, S.C. – 67 Coker College student-athletes were named 2016-17 Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award winners, the association announced today.
A total of 183 institutions and a record number of student-athletes (10,644) are being recognized for the 2016-17 Academic Achievement Awards.
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues paying member of the D2 ADA.
For a student-athlete to qualify for the award they must:
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- Have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
"Coker student-athletes continue to perform at a high level in the classroom," said Vice President of Athletics and Athletic Facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin. "Each year we see the number of student-athletes recognized by this honor increase. This academic achievement is a result of our dedicated faculty, staff, and coaches supporting and understanding the academic pursuits of our student-athletes."
Coker was one of four South Atlantic Conference institutions to earn the honor, along with Wingate University, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Anderson University.
