D2ADA Honors Coker Student-Athletes

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) announced the 2014-15 recipients of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards today. The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. Coker College had 57 student-athletes honored with an award.

“It is great to have 57 of our student-athletes honored for their outstanding academic achievements,” said vice president of athletics and athletic facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin. “Over the past three years we have increased the number of student-athletes that have received this award and that is a direct reflection of the continued commitment they have to succeeding in the classroom. I am very proud of all of the accomplishments of these fine young men and women.”

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues paying member of the D2ADA. Also, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale; have attended a minimum of two years of college level work; and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.

A total of 147 institutions and a record number of student-athletes (7,320) were recognized for the 2014-15 Academic Achievement Awards.

Coker was one of four schools in the South Atlantic Conference to have student-athletes recognized. The others were Newberry College, Queens University of Charlotte and Wingate University.
