The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at Loren Hill and Rachel Waters, members of the women's volleyball team.
Name: Loren Hill
Sport: Women’s Volleyball
Position: Retired/Injured; but I was an outside/rightside hitter
Hometown: Pawleys Island, S.C.
Year: The solo senior
Major: Biology and art minor (sometimes I question my sanity)
Why did you choose Coker? I chose Coker for the small school, family atmosphere, volleyball team, and being close enough to home to have my parents at every game.
What is your best memory at Coker (athletic related)? My best athletic related memory at Coker was getting the first win in the DeLoach center and also the atmosphere of playing games in Timberlake my freshman and sophomore year.
What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? I have way too many to list but everything from bandfest, homecoming, days at the boathouse, meeting some amazing people, pulling all-nighters in the art building and surviving a 5 hour art critique, and everything else involved in making these the best 4 years of my life.
Which athletic team would you play on at Coker other than your own? Well my shoulder is too messed up to play anything but soccer so… no throw ins please.
Favorite class: Anatomy and physiology
Favorite professor: Jim Boden; by far one of the coolest people I know
Plans after graduation: My plans after graduation are to go to graduate school and hopefully become a pathology assistant
Favorite movie: She’s the Man
Favorite type of music: Country (I love Brantley Gilbert)
Favorite food: Chicken and dumplings
Favorite sports team: Cobras… duh
Favorite color: Blue and Gold (Go Cobras)
Favorite TV show: Embarrassingly enough the bachelor/ bachelorette
Most prized possession: My rubber Cobra, of course
What is something people may not know about you? I love/collect dinosaurs; my favorite is a triceratops if anyone was wondering and I have an extreme amount of everything Coker (even my room is Coker colors)
Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it? Lor or Lo just because people are too lazy to say my full name and aren’t very creative
One word that describes you: Strong-willed (does a hyphenated word count as one?)

Why did you choose Coker? The food in the cafeteria, definitely. And volleyball.
What is your best memory at Coker (athletic related)? Breaking our rather lengthy losing streak last year!
What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? I once found a cat near Golden Dragon and it followed me back to my dorm.
