Name: Carrie Wilks

Sport: Spirit Squad

Position: Dancer

Hometown: North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Year: Sophomore

Major: Biology with a pre-medical concentration

Why did you choose Coker? I chose Coker because it was a small school, it offered scholarship opportunities, and most importantly it felt like home.

What is your best memory at Coker (athletic related)? My best memory would have to be dancing at our first home basketball games. I was so jittery and nervous, yet excited at the same time. I literally could not stop smiling.

What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? My best memory at Coker would be leading freshmen orientation as a commissioner. I loved making them laugh, showing them around, and taking away those nerves I knew they all had.

Which athletic team would you play on at Coker other than your own? I would play women’s volleyball, as unexpected as that sounds. My friends all played in high school so I grew up around the game, but some of the girls are ridiculously tall and intimidating. So I'll stick to a sport where I don't have balls being spiked at my head.

Favorite class: My favorite class would have to be Art 101.

Favorite professor: Dr. Robbins

Plans after graduation: I plan to apply for medical school and pursue my career in the medical field.

Favorite movie: That's a toss-up between Dirty Dancing and Finding Nemo

Favorite type of music: Country

Favorite food: Homemade mac & cheese

Favorite sports team: Boston Red Sox

Favorite color: Green

Favorite TV show: Criminal Minds

Most prized possession: My cellphone, I'd be lost without it.

What is something people may not know about you? I love going shooting with friends and family, whether we're hunting or shooting clays.

Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it? People call me Carol here at Coker because I got sassy with one of my friends one day, which reminded her of her mom. So I am nicknamed after a 50-year old feisty woman, which I guess is fitting because I'm an old soul.

One word that describes you: Happy
